stewing

my second attempt at beef stew went better than the first. nothing exciting, though. at least this time the power didn't go out, leaving me with crunchy soup.

i'm hoping the third time's a charm. anyone have a good slow cooker recipe for beef stew? sarah f, i'm sure you have tons of 'em.

Well, perhaps your power didn't go out last night, but ours did. Something about you making beef stew causes a disruption in the nation's power supply.

My mom makes great beef stew. She uses a packet of onion soup mix and a packet of gravy seasoning...I think a lot of recipes only call for one or the other.

Mmmmmm...beef stew.

Is there irony in that I never used to eat beef stew because I didn't like the vegetables?

Beef Stew recipe

yes.

In a slow cooker.
ready?

(this is from the girl who makes 2 new recipes per day, and even I use cheater tricks..so don't be alarmed at the shortcuts)

3 potatoes, diced
1 large carrot, chopped
1 can green beans
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbs. worcestershire sauce
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
2 cups water
2 beef boullion cubes
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 envelope brown gravy mix

Combine all veggies, oregano, basil, worceshire sauce, boulion and water in crockpot.
Brown beef in frying pan. Add onion and gravy mixes. Toss to coat.
Add to crockpot. Mix.
Cook on HIGH 5 hours.

Let me know if you make this (or if you ever want a recipe for anything else. ever. seriously.)
